How to download a TikTok video with Tiktokio.tech
- Copy the link. In the TikTok app, open the post and tap Share, then Copy link. On a computer, copy the address from the browser bar.
- Paste it in the box. Come back to Tiktokio.tech, tap Paste (or press Ctrl+V / Cmd+V) and press Download.
- Choose a file. Pick MP4 (no watermark) for the widest compatibility, HD MP4 for the sharpest copy, or Download audio for the sound only.
- Save it. Your browser saves the file to its Downloads folder. On iPhone it lands in the Files app; from there you can send it to Photos.
What does the Tiktokio.tech TikTok downloader do?
It turns a TikTok link into files you can keep. This TikTok downloader reads a public post and returns the copies TikTok itself serves for it: the video without the logo overlay, an HD version when one exists, the sound, and every image of a photo post.
Tiktokio.tech is an independent tool and is not affiliated with tiktokio.com, TikTok or ByteDance.
Everything happens in your browser tab. There is no app to install, no account to create and no daily cap. The files come straight from TikTok's own content servers, so what you save is the same data TikTok streams to its app, not a screen recording.
What can you save from one link?
- MP4 without watermark — the clean copy, best for sharing and editing.
- HD MP4 — the highest-quality copy TikTok keeps, often encoded in H.265.
- MP4 with watermark — when you want the credit stamped on the video.
- Audio — the post's sound as an M4A or MP3 file, as TikTok stores it.
- Photos — each image of a slideshow post, one by one.
- Stories — public stories while they are still online.
What is outside its reach?
- Private accounts and posts shared with friends only.
- Deleted posts, drafts and anything still unpublished.
- Posts blocked in the region our servers connect from.
- Live streams while they are live.
Each job also has its own page if you prefer a focused tool:
How do you download a TikTok video in three steps?
Copy the post link, paste it into the box at the top of this page and pick a file. That is the whole routine on every device, and the TikTok downloader usually answers in 0.6 to 1.8 seconds on a normal public post.
- Copy. In the app tap Share → Copy link. On tiktok.com, copy the address bar.
- Paste. Tap Paste on Tiktokio.tech or long-press the box and choose Paste.
- Pick and save. Tap the MP4, HD or audio button; your browser does the rest.
Which links does the box accept?
- The short link the TikTok app copies from its share menu.
- A full
tiktok.com/@user/video/…address from a browser. - Links to photo posts and to public stories.
- Links with tracking text after a question mark — that part is ignored.
Why paste instead of searching by username?
A link points at exactly one post, so there is no guessing and no risk of saving the wrong clip. It also means we never need to browse anyone's profile: the tool touches the single post you chose and nothing else.
How do I save TikTok videos on iPhone?
Use Safari: copy the link in TikTok, paste it here, tap the MP4 button and confirm the download. Safari puts the file in the Downloads folder of the Files app, and from there you can move it to Photos.
- Open the post in TikTok, tap Share and then Copy link.
- Open Safari, go to tiktokio.tech and tap Paste, then Download.
- Tap MP4 (no watermark) or HD MP4 and confirm with Download.
- Open the Files app → Browse → Downloads to find the video.
When the download finishes, Safari shows a small arrow in the address bar. Apple's guide to finding downloaded files on iPhone says to open Files, tap Browse and open Downloads; if that folder is missing, look inside iCloud Drive.
How do I get the video into the Photos app?
Open the MP4 in Files, tap the Share button and choose the option to save the video. It then appears in your library next to your own clips, ready for the Photos editor, iMovie or a message. For a longer walkthrough, see our guide to saving a TikTok to your camera roll.
Will the HD file play on my iPhone?
Very likely. Apple says support for HEVC, also called H.265, is built into iOS 11 and later and macOS High Sierra 10.13 and later, so any iPhone that runs a recent iOS plays the HD copy from the TikTok HD downloader without extra apps.
How do I download TikTok videos on Android?
Copy the link from the TikTok share sheet, open Chrome or any other browser, paste it into the TikTok downloader on Tiktokio.tech and tap the file you want. Android saves it to the Downloads folder, where your gallery and file manager can see it.
- In TikTok, tap Share → Copy link.
- Open Chrome, Firefox or Samsung Internet and load tiktokio.tech.
- Paste the link, tap Download and choose MP4, HD or audio.
- Open your Files or Gallery app and look in Downloads.
Where does Chrome put the file?
Chrome saves into your default download location. Google's help page on downloading a file in Chrome notes a progress icon appears while it runs, and the Downloads list (under the three-dot menu) shows everything you saved recently.
What if the phone says storage is full?
A one-minute HD clip can weigh tens of megabytes. If the download stops, free some room first: Google's page on freeing up storage on Android walks through Settings → Storage and the Free up space tool.
- Delete old downloads you have already moved elsewhere.
- Pick the standard MP4 instead of HD — it is usually smaller.
- Save the sound only with the TikTok MP3 downloader if you just want the music.
How do I use the TikTok downloader on a PC or Mac?
Open the TikTok post on tiktok.com, copy the address from the browser bar, paste it here with Ctrl+V or Cmd+V and click Download. The file goes to the browser's Downloads folder, as with any other download.
- Works in Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari, Opera and Brave.
- No extension and no desktop program needed.
- Keyboard shortcut: paste with Ctrl+V on Windows or Cmd+V on Mac.
- The same TikTok downloader page works on Linux and Chromebooks too.
Where are downloads on Windows?
In Microsoft Edge, Microsoft's page on where your browser saves downloads points to Settings and more → Settings → Downloads; the default location shown there looks like C:\Users\[your name]\Downloads.
Where are downloads on a Mac?
Safari keeps a downloads list behind the arrow button in its toolbar. Apple's guide to downloading items in Safari on Mac explains that the magnifying-glass icon next to a file reveals it in Finder.
Is a computer better for editing?
For heavier work, yes. A desktop editor handles HD files comfortably, and a clean copy without the logo means you can crop, caption and color-correct your own clip without a badge drifting across the frame.
Which formats can the TikTok downloader give you?
You get whatever TikTok actually stores for the post, in its original packaging: MP4 video files, an audio file and image files. We do not re-encode anything, so nothing loses quality on the way to you.
| Button | What you get | Typical codec | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| MP4 (no watermark) | Video + sound, no overlay | H.264 in an MP4 container | Sharing, any phone, old editors |
| HD MP4 | Highest-quality copy TikTok keeps | Often H.265 (HEVC) | Big screens, archiving your own posts |
| MP4 with watermark | The version with the logo and username | H.264 | Reposting with visible credit |
| Download audio | Only the sound | AAC in M4A, or MP3 | Ringtones, edits, offline listening |
| Photo | One image of a slideshow | As TikTok stores it | Saving carousels picture by picture |
MP4 is a container, not a codec. Wikipedia's MP4 article describes it as a multimedia container most often used to store video and audio, which is why two MP4 files can hold quite different kinds of video inside.
Which file names and sizes should you expect?
- Videos end in
.mp4, whether they are H.264 or H.265 inside. - Sounds end in
.m4aor.mp3. - A 15-second sound is roughly 0.25 MB; video sizes grow with length and quality.
- Photos keep the size TikTok stores for each slide.
Should you pick MP4 or HD?
Choose the standard MP4 when you need the file to open everywhere — an old laptop, a smart TV, a basic editor. Choose HD when you watch on a large screen or keep a master copy of your own work, and your device plays H.265.
What does "without watermark" really mean?
It means you receive a copy of the video that TikTok stores without the logo and username burned into the picture. Tiktokio.tech does not blur, crop or paint over anything; it simply fetches the clean copy instead of the stamped one.
TikTok keeps more than one file for many posts. One version carries the moving TikTok badge and the creator's handle; another is the plain video. A TikTok downloader without watermark is honest only when it hands you that plain file untouched, which is exactly what happens here.
Is the clean copy lower quality?
No. Because nothing is edited, the frame stays complete and sharp — there is no smudged corner where a logo was erased. When the creator uploaded in high resolution, the HD button gives you an even better copy than the standard one.
Does removing the logo remove the credit?
It removes the on-screen badge, not the author's rights. If you repost someone else's clip, name and link the creator yourself. If you want the credit visible inside the frame, pick MP4 with watermark instead.
- Clean copy: best for your own edits and backups.
- Watermarked copy: best for sharing someone else's clip with credit.
- Audio only: best when the sound is what you need.
Why is the HD video often H.265 (HEVC)?
Because HEVC squeezes the same picture into far less data. Many HD copies TikTok serves use H.265, so the file stays light while looking sharper, and the HD button hands you that file as it is.
“In comparison to AVC, HEVC can be used to achieve from 25% to 50% better data compression at the same level of video quality, or substantially improved video quality at the same bit rate.”
The same article gives a concrete example: standard 4K at 30 frames per second needs about 50 Mbps with HEVC, around 22.5 GB per hour, against 100 Mbps and 45 GB per hour for older H.264 profiles. HEVC was first published as a standard in 2013.
- Same quality in a smaller file, or better quality in the same size.
- Supports resolutions up to 8192×4320, according to Wikipedia.
- Needs a player that can decode H.265 — not every older device can.
“HEIF and HEVC offer better compression than JPEG and H.264, so they use less storage space on your devices and iCloud Photos, while preserving the same visual quality.”
Will HEVC play on my device?
| Device | Plays the HD (HEVC) file? | What to do if it does not |
|---|---|---|
| iPhone / iPad | Yes on iOS 11 or later (Apple) | Update iOS, or use the standard MP4 |
| Mac | Yes on macOS High Sierra 10.13 or later (Apple) | Export to H.264 in QuickTime Player |
| Windows PC | Depends on installed codecs | Add the HEVC extension from the Microsoft Store |
| Android | Depends on the phone and player app | Use the standard MP4 |
| Smart TV / old laptop | Not always | Use the standard MP4 |
How do I play HEVC on Windows?
Microsoft's Codecs FAQ says you can often add support by installing a codec extension from the Microsoft Store, such as the HEVC video extension. It also warns against free "codec packs" from random sites, which can break playback.
How do I turn HEVC into H.264 on a Mac?
Apple's HEVC support article describes it: open the video in QuickTime Player, choose File → Export As, and switch from Smaller File Size (HEVC) to Greater Compatibility (H.264) before saving.
Can you download only the sound of a TikTok?
Yes. The Download audio button saves the post's sound on its own, in the format TikTok stores it — usually M4A, sometimes MP3. A typical 15-second sound comes out at about 0.25 MB.
M4A is not a strange format: Wikipedia's AAC article explains that AAC was designed as the successor of MP3, generally sounds better at the same bit rate, and is usually packaged in an MP4 container with the .m4a extension.
Is M4A or MP3 better for you?
- M4A (AAC): plays on iPhone, Mac, Android and Windows; good quality for the size.
- MP3: the oldest, most universal choice for car stereos and basic players.
- Need a ringtone? Read how to use a TikTok sound as a ringtone.
The dedicated TikTok MP3 page does the same job with audio as the main button, and our guide to finding trending sounds on TikTok helps you pick tracks worth saving.
Can it save photo slideshows and stories?
Yes — the TikTok downloader handles both, as long as they are public. Paste the link of a photo post and every image appears with its own save button; paste a public story link and you can keep it after it disappears from the app.
How do photo slideshows work?
A slideshow is a set of still images with a sound. The tool lists each picture separately, so you can keep only the ones you need, and the sound is available through the audio button. The TikTok photo downloader is built for this case, and our guide on making a slideshow on TikTok covers the other side.
- Every slide shows up with its own save button.
- Images come in the order the creator posted them.
- The slideshow's sound is saved separately with the audio button.
What about stories?
Stories expire, so save them while they are still up. The TikTok story downloader accepts public story links; stories limited to friends stay out of reach, by design.
Is this TikTok downloader private and safe?
Yes. We do not keep your files, we do not ask who you are and we do not need your TikTok login. Each download link is created on request and stops working after one hour.
- No storage. Videos are not copied to our servers for later; the link points to TikTok's own servers.
- One-hour links. After 60 minutes the link expires, so just paste the post again.
- No account. No sign-up, no email, no password — and never your TikTok credentials.
- No install. A web page cannot slip a program onto your computer.
What should you never be asked for?
A legitimate web downloader has no reason to ask for your TikTok password, a payment card or permission to install an extension. If a site does, close the tab. Tiktokio.tech asks for one thing only: a link.
Are "codec packs" a good idea?
Usually not. If an HD file will not play on Windows, install the official extension from the Microsoft Store rather than a bundle from a download portal. Microsoft says it strongly discourages those packs because they can cause playback problems and even system corruption.
Is it legal to download TikTok videos?
Saving your own posts with a TikTok downloader is fine, and so is keeping a clip for personal viewing when the creator allows downloads. Re-publishing someone else's work is a copyright question, so ask permission or make sure your use is fair.
“You can save TikTok videos and photos to your device for offline viewing and sharing if the post creator allows others to download their content.”
In the United States, fair use is weighed case by case. The Copyright Office explains it like this:
“Fair use is a legal doctrine that promotes freedom of expression by permitting the unlicensed use of copyright-protected works in certain circumstances.”
What do courts look at?
- Purpose and character — commentary, teaching or a transformative edit weighs toward fair use.
- Nature of the work — creative works like songs and films get stronger protection.
- Amount used — a short excerpt is easier to justify than the whole clip.
- Market effect — a copy that replaces the original for viewers weighs against you.
The Copyright Office's fair use page also stresses there is no fixed percentage or number of seconds that is automatically safe. This is general information, not legal advice.
Which uses are clearly fine?
- Backing up videos you made yourself.
- Watching a recipe or tutorial offline on a flight.
- Reposting a creator's clip after they said yes, with credit.
- Quoting a short part for commentary or review.
What are the limits of the TikTok downloader?
It can only fetch what TikTok makes publicly available. If TikTok does not serve a file for a post, we cannot get it — there is no back door, and we would not use one if there were.
| Situation | Can Tiktokio.tech save it? | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Public video | Yes | TikTok serves the files to anyone |
| Creator turned downloads off | Often not | TikTok may not serve the file |
| Private account / friends only | No | Not visible without the creator's approval |
| Deleted post or draft | No | The files are gone or never published |
| Region-blocked post | Sometimes not | TikTok hides it from our servers' region |
| Live stream | No | There is no finished file yet |
What will the tool never do?
- Unlock private or friends-only accounts.
- Bypass a creator's choice to turn downloads off.
- Log in to TikTok on your behalf.
- Recover posts that were deleted.
Do downloads count against a quota?
No. There is no daily limit and no paid tier. The only practical limits are your connection and your free storage.
When is TikTok's own Save video button enough?
When you are in the app, the creator allows downloads and you are happy with the version TikTok gives you. TikTok's Help Center describes the route: open the video, tap Share, then Save video.
If that option is missing, TikTok says the creator does not allow it. A web TikTok downloader is handier when you are on a computer, want the HD or audio-only file, or need to choose between the clean and the stamped copy.
How do creators keep a copy before posting?
TikTok's own advice is to save your video or photos before you post. On the Post screen, tap More options and turn on Save to device, so an offline copy of your work lands on your phone automatically.
- In-app Save video: quick, inside TikTok, follows the creator's setting.
- Save to device before posting: the safest backup of your own uploads.
- Tiktokio.tech: any browser, choice of MP4, HD, audio and photos.
What makes a TikTok downloader trustworthy?
A trustworthy TikTok downloader asks only for a link, serves the original file without re-encoding, explains its limits and never touches your account. Use this checklist on any tool, including ours.
- It works without a login and never asks for your TikTok password.
- It does not force you to install an app, an extension or a "player".
- It says plainly what it cannot do — private, deleted and blocked posts.
- It tells you where the file comes from and how long links last.
- It reminds you that other people's videos belong to them.
How does Tiktokio.tech meet that checklist?
Our TikTok downloader runs as a plain web page, fetches the file from TikTok's servers, keeps no copy and lets links expire after an hour. The About page explains who runs the site, and the privacy policy sets out what is processed and what is never kept.
If you are a rights holder and see your content shared without permission, our DMCA page explains how to reach us, and the terms of use set out what the service may be used for.
Why is my TikTok download not working?
When the TikTok downloader shows an error, it usually comes from one of four things: the post is not public, the link is incomplete, the one-hour link expired, or your player cannot read HEVC. Each has a quick fix.
"We could not read that post"
- Open the link in a private browser window: if TikTok asks you to log in, the post is not public.
- Copy the link again from the Share menu — partial pastes are common on phones.
- If the post was just published, wait a minute and try again.
The video plays without picture or will not open
That is almost always the HD file meeting a player without H.265 support. Download the standard MP4 instead, or add HEVC support as described in the HEVC section above.
Nothing seems to happen on iPhone
Check Safari's downloads arrow in the address bar. Apple notes that if you do not see your files in Files, Safari's downloads list shows the status of each item and opens it directly.
The download stops halfway on mobile data
- Switch to Wi-Fi for long HD clips.
- Check that your phone has free storage.
- Try the standard MP4, which is usually lighter than HD.
The link says it has expired
Links last one hour. Paste the TikTok post again and you get a fresh one in about a second.
Why do so many people use a TikTok video downloader?
Because there is a lot to save. Wikipedia reports that TikTok passed two billion mobile downloads in April 2020 and reached one billion users in September 2021. Videos run from three seconds to 60 minutes, so keeping a copy offline is often handy.
- Creators back up their own catalogue before changing phones.
- Teachers keep short clips to show in class without Wi-Fi.
- Cooks and gym-goers keep how-to videos for offline use.
- Editors pull a clean copy of their own post into a longer project.
Whatever the reason, the routine stays the same: link in, file out. Start with the TikTok downloader box at the top, or jump straight to the HD downloader if quality matters most.
Frequently asked questions
Is Tiktokio.tech the same as tiktokio.com?
No. Tiktokio.tech is an independent tool and is not affiliated with tiktokio.com, TikTok or ByteDance. If you searched for "tiktokio" — or typed tiktokkio or tiktikio by mistake — and landed here, you are on a separate site with its own code and its own team.
Is this TikTok downloader free?
Yes. There is no subscription, no paid tier and no limit on how many posts you save.
Do I need to install an app or create an account?
No. Tiktokio.tech works in any modern browser on iPhone, Android, Windows, Mac and Linux. You never sign in, and we never ask for your TikTok password.
Does it really remove the watermark?
It gives you the copy TikTok stores without the logo and username overlay. Nothing is blurred or cropped, so the frame stays complete.
Why does the HD file not play on my computer?
The HD copy is often H.265 (HEVC). On Windows, install the HEVC video extension from the Microsoft Store, or simply download the standard MP4, which uses H.264.
Where do downloaded TikTok videos go on iPhone?
Safari saves them in the Files app, under Browse → Downloads (or inside iCloud Drive). From there you can share the MP4 to Photos.
Can I download private TikTok videos?
No. Private, friends-only, deleted and draft posts are not served publicly by TikTok, so the tool cannot reach them.
Do you keep a copy of the videos I download?
No. The file comes from TikTok's own servers and the link we create expires after one hour. We do not build a library of downloads.
Can I save just the music from a TikTok?
Yes. Use the Download audio button or the TikTok MP3 page. You get the sound as M4A or MP3, as TikTok stores it.
Is it legal to download TikTok videos?
Saving your own content, or content you have permission to reuse, is fine. Reposting someone else's video without permission can infringe copyright; check fair use and credit the creator.
Why does a creator's video fail when others work?
Some creators turn off downloads, and TikTok may then not serve the file. If TikTok does not serve it, we cannot get it.
How long does a download take?
Reading a public post usually takes 0.6 to 1.8 seconds. The file transfer itself depends on your connection and the clip's size.
